In the observatory, two OTA's are permanently mounted:

  • A 356 mm,  f=3910 mm Schmitt-Cassegrain (Celestron C-14AF XLT)
  • A 85 mm, f=600 mm APO refractor (TeleVue TV85) for guiding and wide-field imaging.

Two Meade focal reducers f/6.3 and f/3.3 can be attached for imaging and photometry (the f/6.3 is the one that actually works).

Other telescopes that get used sometimes are:

  • A180 mm, f=1800 Maksutov-Cassegrain (Intes-Micro 703DL)
  • A 60 mm, f=355 APO (Takahashi FS-60C)
  • These scopes used to be mounted on a Vixen GP-DX German equatorial mount controlled by SkySensor PC. This combination worked fine but was just a little too heavy to carry in and out of the house. Also, the Mak takes some time to cool down.

As a portable setup for visual observing, I use a Giro Gr-III DX Alt-Az mount on a tripod. I easily carries either of the refractors and/or the Mak.
